Concussion Protocol

To ensure the safety of all players, the V&DABA has instituted a concussion protocol that will be strictly enforced.

In the event a player suffers any blow to the head, face or neck, or a blow to the body which causes a sudden jarring of the head which may cause a concussion (e.g. a player hits his/her head on the floor or is elbowed in the head), the following steps must be taken:
  1. the player must leave the game immediately
  2. the coach must advise the player's parent/guardian of the incident and suspected concussion as soon as possible
  3. the coach will direct the parent/guardian to V&DABA website for more detailed information and recommend the parent/guardian consult a medical practitioner
  4. the Game Directors have ultimate authority in this instance and if the coach does not comply with this policy, the Game Director will ensure the policy is enforced.
