Criminal Record Checks

A Criminal Record Check (CRC) is MANDATORY for all V&DABA coaches, assistant coaches and supervisory staff or anyone else who is not a player and opts to sit on the player bench.

An updated process was introduced in July 2021 so please review the CRRP User Guide provided here:  CRRP User Guide

Electronic Identity Verifcation (EIV) will now be achieved through your activated BC Services Card.

Equifax - The Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP) has now onboarded all organizations to the new applicant-based online service (eCRC) using the mobile BC Services Card as electronic identity verification (EIV). The previous eCRC system using Equifax as EIV will no longer be available as of December 17, 2021.

Applicants who are unable to use the BC Services Card method to verify their ID can still submit their criminal record check through the manual process.

A cleared CRC is valid for 5 years so you do not have to apply again while your CRC is still valid.

The CRC review can only be conducted online or via a manual paper process as per Criminal Record Review Program (CRRP) guidelines.

Note:  As per CRRP rules, we can no longer accept CRC's processed through local police stations.  Only CRC's processed and cleared through the CRRP will be accepted (see instructions below).

*Fingerprinting Requirement

In some cases, where an applicant shares the same gender and birthdate as a known sex offender, he/she will be required to provide fingerprints to verify his/her identity.  The applicant will receive a letter from the CRRP indicating this additional requirement and a subsequent reminder letter if the applicant has not complied with this requirement.  The fingerprinting process typically takes two weeks to complete.  If you are required to provide fingerprints, please forward a copy of the letter you received from the CRRP indicating this requirement to the V&DABA (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) to receive a two-week grace period (based on the date the letter was received by the applicant) to allow time to complete this step.
